Mothership Kayaking Expeditions

May 23, 2011
Puffins! Spring is nesting season! Aboard Wanderbird, we will take you to different scenic paddling locations along the Maine coast. Each morning after a hearty and delicious breakfast we will launch the kayaks to travel as guided group to explore remote and beautiful areas of the coast and islands that are not usually accessible from shore-based launching sites. We will pack a bag lunch or meet on a beach for lunch, paddle for the afternoon and then meet back aboard the Wanderbird for hot showers, a comfortable place to relax and unwind, before sitting down to enjoy a fine evening meal. One day we will travel offshore for a rare treat; to view nesting seabirds and puffins. We will anchor near a very remote sanctuary and kayak along the shore to view puffins, tern, murres, razor bill, eider ducks and other nesting seabirds. Some paddling experience would be nice, but all levels are welcome. (More about birding.)

Pelagic Birdwatching on the Coast of Maine with Wildside Nature Tours

May 29, 2011 - Book with Wildside Nature Tours
The dramatic rocky coastline of Maine is amazing any time of year, but in June the outlying islands are home to hundreds, even thousands of breeding seabirds that can be difficult to see the rest of the year.

This wonderful cruise will combine great opportunities to photograph the landscapes, seascapes, wildflowers and of course pelagic birds including the captivating Atlantic Puffin. Mixed with opportunities to explore local fishing communities and secluded coves full of hidden treasures, our trip will offer dimensions for many interests including birding, photography, beachcombing and lighthouse admiring. We will keep a watchful eye for whales and dolphins to enrich our travels!
